Mark Foley
Managing Director, FIA USA
Mark C. Foley is a senior (C-Level) financial executive with broad experience in Risk Management, Crisis Management and Strategic Corporate Advisory. Mark spent twenty years leading multinational financial services businesses in Europe and Emerging Markets. Mark dealt at board level with leading European multinational corporations, led due diligence teams in complex cross-border acquisition transactions, established new business units and helped a broad spectrum of companies improve financial performance and implement sophisticated risk management strategies.
As CEO of Oyak Bank, Mark managed through extremely volatile economic and non-economic crises. These included maxi-devaluations, computer virus attacks on the bank’s operating system, severe earthquakes, terrorist bombings and other threats.
Mark also has unusual experience in internal investigation and internal audit. He coordinated the internal investigation of a multi-million dollar fraud attempt against Bank of Boston in London. In a case which took 18 months, Mark worked with the U.K.’s Serious Fraud Office, internal and external legal counsel, informants and private investigators, and personally tracked hundreds of money transfers. The bank lost no money and two people were sent to jail.
Returning to the U.S., Mark joined the management team of another leading integrity risk management and business intelligence firm in New York City, as CFO in early 2002. In that position he deepened his compliance, AML, and anti-fraud skill-sets.
Mark has guest lectured at the Brandeis University Graduate School of International Business and at Penn State University. He is an honor graduate of the Defense Language Institute in Monterrey, California, and was a code breaker in the US Army. He holds a B.A., Summa Cum Laude, in Economics from Framingham State College, and a Masters Degree from The Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies, in Washington, D.C. Mark speaks Turkish, German, and French.
